This Week with SJ

I love when I find Sadie Jane sleeping like that with both arms up.  She looks as though she finally surrendered to sleep, which she can fight at times.  I try to give her as many kisses as I can because I know when she is older she will not let me kiss her face all the time.  We just got back from the pediatrician's office.  She got her 2 month immunization shots a little early since we will be going on vacation soon.  She did well and I made it through it too:)  We were reminded recently that shots for babies are usually worse for the parents than the baby-so true!

Making the Most of my Time

I am finding I spend a lot of time feeding Sadie Jane.  So far all I have been able to do during this time is watch TV because I have been so tired and not motivated at all.  I have been convicted that I need to make the most of this time.  So this morning I started and read an article Andrew printed up for me recently.  Here's the link http://www.9marks.org/ejournal/young-mother-ministry-guilt-and-seasons-life.  It is called, "For the Young Mother: Ministry, Guilt, and Seasons of Life."

I would encourage all you young mommies to check it out.  This is my favorite section that I found very encouraging:
"Are you discouraged as you spend day after day immersed in the mundane tasks of mothering? Then think of the honor of guiding the spiritual and intellectual and social development of young minds and hearts. Think of the thrill of teaching them eternal truths from God’s Word. Think of the importance of teaching your young children how to live under authority, and of preparing them for future relationships by teaching them about love and trust. Think of the delight of sending one more godly, vibrant, strong, secure, loving young person into this needy world with the courage to live well for Christ’s sake. What a worthy investment!"

Now I have to go try to comfort my crying baby for the 5th time this nap.  I will never understand why babies fight sleep and adults love sleep!

This Week with SJ

Sadie Jane is now sleeping in her big girl crib (as I call it) for her naps.  We are trying to get her used to it for when we make the big transition in the next few months.  This is a picture of her mohawk from today.  After her bath last night she was so upset that I didn't get a chance to brush it so this is what it does naturally-interesting.

More Pictures for the Grandparents

I keep trying to get some good pics of Sadie Jane for the grandparents and everyone else that would like to see her cuteness:)  I gave Sadie Jane a bath on my own for the first time last night and it was a success so that was an accomplishment for me!  Sadie is also learning how to suck on that pacifier which is very nice option sometimes so I hope she keeps it up.  Right now we are learning her and trying to put her in a some kind of routine as much as you can with a newborn.  We started to let her cry herself to sleep which has been hard but I know it will be worth it.  I think she is catching on but she's a bit stubborn at times.  I have no idea where she gets that from!

Getting Back to "Normal"

Well Sadie Jane is now 3 weeks old and I am trying to figure out what life should look like right now.  I would like to get on some kind of schedule but right now I think I am still in survival mode until she starts sleeping more at night.  So for now I am starting out simple just trying to go on daily walks and get the laundry and cooking done.  We'll see if I can add more next week.  Here's a picture of us on our morning walk this morning.  The other is a picture of her sleeping and it just cracks us up how she can sleep with her arms like that!
